Culture in Mexico

Picture
Mexican culture is a complex history of the blending of pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican civilizations and the culture of Spain, which was imported during the Spanish colonization that lasted for more than three centuries. This combination makes Mexico culture unique and its own.

Mexican people take great pride of their country, culture, ethnicity, lifestyle and economic independence. Mexican culture exhibits strong family ties, respect, hard working people (see infographic below) and socializing together in the community. The way of life in Mexico includes a blend from the nation's long Amerindian past and the Spanish colonial period.

During the 20th century Mexico has changed rapidly and in many ways, contemporary business life in it's largest cities have become similar to that in United States and Europe. However, the beautiful culture and traditions of the older way of life are still very alive in Mexican villages.

Depending on what you are interested in, you can find both ways of life in Mexico. If you are looking for vibrant fast paced cities rich in culture and activities, then you can visit large cities and towns which include Mexico City, Netzahualcóyotl, Estado de México, Baja California, Guadalajara, Jalisco and Monterrey, Nuevo León, while more slower paced areas include places like Chiapas, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Yucatán and many more.

Mexicans ranked among the hardest working in the world

In a recent report by Seth Kadish of Business Insider, Kadish ranked most of the countries in the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) based on many criteria and found that Mexican people were considered amongst the hardest working people in the world. See image to the right.

This culture remains very true today.  A combination of their work ethic and an increasing of highly skilled labor (hundreds of thousands of engineers graduating from Universities each year) is making Mexico a desired destination for advanced manufacturing and software development in the world.
